As your Labor candidates for East Ward, we are dedicated to addressing the issues that you’ve told us matter most to our community. Our team is committed to protecting all that we love about our community and fostering a community where safety, infrastructure, nature, and the well-being of all residents are prioritised. Through thoughtful planning and community involvement, we aim to create a harmonious and prosperous East Ward for all residents.

Safety and Traffic Management

• Road Safety Measures: Increase safety initiatives, including the installation of additional traffic lights at critical intersections and school zones.
• Coordinated School Drop-off Zones: Implement coordinated drop-off zones near schools to ensure the safety of students and improve traffic flow.
• Road Traffic Management: Advocate for more traffic infrastructure around Metro precincts with more parking.

Public Infrastructure Facilities

• Pedestrian Pathways: Extend the existing pedestrian ways and maintain them to promote a healthy community by encouraging their walking and cycling habits in the Hills neighbourhood.
• Bus Stops: Support building additional bus stops and upgrading existing ones to provide safe shelter to public transport users.
• Sporting Facilities: Develop additional sports, games facilities, and community gyms at public parks where possible to build a healthy community.
• Performance Spaces: Establish performance space facilities to support arts and culture that suit diverse ethnicities and build harmony.

Community Well-being

• Recreational Areas: Create and enhance recreational areas, including designated spaces for small dogs, ensuring safe and enjoyable environments for all pets and their owners.
• Small Business Support Programs: Develop and promote programs aimed at supporting small businesses, fostering economic growth, and creating job opportunities within the community.
• Community Programs: Implement programs that promote mental and physical health, focussing on community well-being and social cohesion.

Preservation of Nature

• Environmental Conservation: Preserve and protect local flora and fauna, in particular our trees, and ensure that development projects do not compromise natural habitats.
• Green Spaces: Maintain and enhance green spaces, parks, and natural reserves to provide residents with accessible and beautiful outdoor areas.

Infrastructure and Development

• Balanced Development: Ensure that development projects are balanced with the need to preserve our natural environment and maintain our quiet, green community character.
• Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable building practices and environmentally friendly infrastructure projects.

Animal Welfare

• Animal Well-Being Programs: support initiatives aimed at ensuring the well-being of animals and promoting wildlife protection.
